Staying Safe on the Roads: Riot Act Visit for Years 5 & 6

29/3/2025

On Wednesday, our Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a powerful road safety assembly delivered by Riot Act, a theatre company specialising in educational performances.
The presentation, Alex and Jay, told a thought-provoking story through drama, exploring the consequences of poor decisions near roads and highlighting the importance of staying alert and safe as pedestrians and cyclists. The engaging performance struck the perfect balance between entertainment and a serious message, prompting plenty of discussion and reflection.
We were impressed by how thoughtfully the children responded – they clearly took the messages on board.

On Wednesday, Year 3 travelled thousands of years into the past for an exciting Stone Age Day!
The children immersed themselves in a range of hands-on activities, including a very popular 'hunting' experience. They explored what life was like for early humans and gained a deeper understanding of how people lived, worked, and survived during this fascinating period of history.
A special visitor, Ugg, brought the Stone Age to life with stories, artefacts, and lots of fascinating facts. The children were full of curiosity and asked brilliant questions – it was a day of discovery, imagination, and fun!
Well done, Year 3 – you rock!

Year 4 Discover the Romans with Three UK

On Monday, our Year 4 pupils took part in an exciting Discovery Workshop delivered by the mobile network company Three.
The children wowed the visiting team with their impressive knowledge of Roman Britain – from the engineering of Roman roads to the legacy of Roman baths. They showed real understanding of how the Romans continue to influence life in Britain today.
Using iPads, the children then brought history to life by creating their own iMovie presentations. They scripted and memorised lines, selected images for green screen effects, and used editing tools to produce high-quality videos – a fantastic blend of historical learning and digital creativity!
A huge well done to Year 4 for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and brilliant work throughout the day.

This week, our talented Year 5 pupils wowed audiences with their dynamic performance of History Live! – an exciting production with a focus on The Anglo-Saxons and The Vikings.
With powerful singing, lively acting, and plenty of historical facts woven in, the children took us on a journey through time – from the arrival of the Anglo-Saxons to the fierce invasions of the Vikings. Their enthusiasm and hard work brought the past vividly to life in a fun and memorable way.
We were so impressed by the confidence, expression, and teamwork on display. A big thank you to the staff for their commitment in bringing the show together, and to families for supporting the children every step of the way.

Smartphones are everywhere, and children are getting them younger than ever. But what if waiting until 14 is the best decision you could make for your child’s well-being, safety, and development?

We are suggesting to all our families that they delay giving their child a smartphone until at least 14 years old.

Take a look at our presentation (click the video below).  Feel free to ask us questions!

Let’s start the conversation. Let’s take back childhood.
