![]() We are delighted to announce that Pinner Park Primary School has been awarded the prestigious Healthy Schools London Silver Award! This recognition celebrates our school’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of our pupils through targeted initiatives and a whole-school approach. Our ongoing health priorities will focus on two key areas: oral health for our Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils, and physical activity for Key Stage 2. These priorities were identified following a thorough needs analysis and feedback from pupils, parents, and staff. Our efforts have already led to positive changes in pupil attitudes and behaviours, and we are committed to sustaining these improvements throughout the year. Our continuing focus will include initiatives such as:
Thank you goes to Miss Draghici, who coordinated this project and prepared our school for the award assessment. This week, our talented Year 1 children transported us to another world with their incredible performances of Christmas with the Aliens, a delightful Christmas musical. Over two days, the children took to the stage to share the heart-warming tale of aliens discovering the true meaning of Christmas. With catchy songs, lively dances, and brilliant acting, the children captivated audiences of parents, carers, and staff alike. Every child played their part with enthusiasm and confidence, bringing the story to life and making it a truly memorable experience for all who watched. We want to say a huge thank you to the Year 1 staff team for their hard work in preparing the children for such a polished performance. Thank you also to the parents for your support in providing costumes and helping the children learn their lines and songs—it all contributed to the success of the production. Finally, a massive well done to our amazing Year 1 stars! You made us so proud with your creativity, teamwork, and joy. Your performances reminded us all of the magic of Christmas. Check out our photo gallery below for some of the highlights of this stellar show! If you or your child appears in any photo and you would prefer this not to be the case, simply email [email protected], let us know which photo it is, and we will remove it.
We are excited to announce the launch of our brand-new Active Travel Map, a fantastic resource designed to help families make healthier, more sustainable choices when travelling to and from school. This map is the result of a brilliant project led by a dedicated group of our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, who worked hard over several weeks to develop this valuable resource. What is the Active Travel Map? The Active Travel Map highlights safe and realistic walking and cycling routes in our local area, making it easier for families to choose active and eco-friendly ways to travel. The map aims to reduce car journeys, improve air quality, and promote healthier lifestyles for our school community. How Was the Map Created? Our pupils took part in a series of engaging workshops, learning about air pollution, its effects on health, and the benefits of active travel. They investigated particulate levels around the school and measured their heart rates during physical activity to understand the positive impact exercise can have on our bodies. With their new knowledge, the pupils used mapping tools to identify key routes and create positive messaging to encourage active travel. Their hard work resulted in a clear, informative map designed to help our community make greener choices. Sharing the Message To promote the map, the pupils delivered an assembly to their peers, sharing what they had learned about air quality and encouraging everyone to consider how they travel. A large vinyl banner now proudly hangs outside the school, promoting our active travel zones and reminding everyone to think about healthier and more sustainable travel options. Why Is This Important? By reducing car journeys and increasing walking or cycling, we can:
Thank You! We are incredibly proud of the pupils who took part in this project — their hard work has resulted in a fantastic resource that will benefit our entire community. We encourage all our families to take a look at the map, displayed on our school banner, and consider ways to include active travel in their daily routine. Together, we can make a big difference for our environment, our health, and our school community. Let’s get moving! 🚶♀️🚴♂️💚 |
