We love sharing the wonderful things that happen at Pinner Park – whether it’s exciting learning in the classroom, performances, trips, sporting events or the many other experiences that make up school life.
As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding children and protecting their privacy online, we are making a small change to the way we use photographs on our public-facing channels, including our website and social media. Going forward, photographs shared publicly will generally follow a ‘faceless’ approach. This means that we will continue to use photographs of children enjoying and taking part in school activities, but we will take them from angles which avoid clearly showing children’s faces. You might see photographs taken from behind, over a shoulder, focused on children’s hands and their work, or wider shots where individual children cannot easily be identified. This doesn’t mean fewer photographs or less celebration of school life. In fact, we hope it will encourage us to be creative in capturing the learning, experiences and achievements that we want to share, while reducing the amount of identifiable imagery of our pupils placed permanently in the public domain. There will still be occasions when photographs are shared directly with our school community through appropriate channels, and our usual arrangements regarding parental consent for photography remain in place. We think this is a sensible next step in balancing the joy of sharing what happens at Pinner Park with our responsibility to help protect children’s privacy and digital footprint. Same great stories – just without faces.
