Music at Pinner Park Primary School
There is a strong tradition of music in our school. In addition to the range of musical activities as part of our school curriculum, we also offer a wide range of additional music opportunities.
We employ a specialist music teacher who looks after our Music curriculum and directly teaches music in many classes. We also work with our partners at Harrow Music Service to provide music learning as class groups, small groups and for individuals.
We have some wonderful group instrumental teaching including African drumming, brass and steel pans.
Instrumental Tuition at Pinner Park Primary School
Instrumental music tuition is available for your child to learn to play an instrument. Children are taught in small groups for 30 minutes and it takes place during school time. The school buys in these lessons from the Harrow Music Service and parents pay for the tuition.
Children from Year 2 can learn violin.
Children in Years 3 - 6 can learn the following instruments:
The fees for these lessons are currently £275 per year. We guarantee 30 lessons but they are likely to have more (up to 36 lessons) throughout the school year. You are entitled to a family discount of £5 per child per term if you have more than one child learning to play an instrument in school. The fees are reviewed annually and may be subject to change in future years. If your child joins part way through the year, we will adjust the fee accordingly.
To book a place for your child to learn an instrument we will need to collect the whole year’s fee in advance (or the remainder of the year if joining later than September). Your contract with the school is for the academic year. If your child withdraws from tuition during the year the fee will not be refunded. We understand that this is a significant financial commitment so we are happy to speak with you if you would prefer to set up a payment plan (though we would still ask you to commit to a year's tuition).
If your child is is eligible for a benefits-related free school meals, the Governing Board has agreed a 50% reduction in fees per year.
If your child is successful in getting a place, we will ask you to sign a contract with us.
