 School Food and Drink.

School Lunches

We serve delicious meals at Pinner Park Primary School, in partnership with Chartwells.

The cost of a meal is £2.20 for children in Years 3 – 6 but free for all reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children (and to those children in key stage 2 who are eligible for free school meals, see below).

All meals must be pre-booked through School Gateway, including free meals.   Please ask our school office team if you need help with your account or with placing your orders.

School meals are prepared on site and a choice is provided which caters for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals. All the meat served in halal.

Allergens

Your child’s special diet should not prevent them from enjoying a nutritious and tasty school lunch with their friends.

We cater for a wide range of special dietary needs and offer a vegetarian option on a daily basis. Example special dietary menus include milk-free for lactose intolerance, gluten-free for coeliac disease, halal, vegan and carbohydrate counts for diabetics.

We also provide tailored menus for pupils with allergies and/or intolerances to any of the 14 EU allergens, including combinations of these allergens.

If your child requires a special dietary menu for either medical reasons, please complete a special diet request form (also available from the school office).   Please return the form to the school office as soon as possible.

If you require any further information on special diet requirements please contact Chartwells: chartwells.specialdiets@compass-group.co.uk

Free School Meals

Some of our children are entitled to free school meals.  In addition to providing a free school meal, the government also gives the school additional funding for every eligible pupil.  Therefore, please let us know if your child is eligible even if they do not need a free school meal.   We use this additional money to obtain additional staff and resources that help improve the quality of education.

To find out whether your child qualifies for free school meals, and hence whether the school would receive additional funding, please fill in the details requested on the Free School Meals Eligibility Checker.

If you would prefer, we can check eligibility on your behalf.  Please ask our school office team if you would like us to run the check for you.

A Certificate of Eligibility is available through the website for any child eligible for a free school meal that is attending a school in England. The Certificate of Eligibility should be brought into school.

It is important to run the check even if your child already has a free meal (because they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2) or if your child prefers a packed lunch because we will not receive the additional funding unless the check is made.

Packed Lunches

Some parents choose to send a packed lunch in with their child.   We encourage parents to pack a healthy lunch for their child and we have some simple guidelines which should be followed.   The leaflet below contains useful advice as well as our guidelines as to which food stuffs are not permitted in school.

Milk

Parents can elect for their child to have a carton of milk each day in school.  These need to be ordered through Cool Milk.  There is no charge for children who are under 5 years old or for any child who is eligible for a benefits-related free school meal.

You can register your child for milk here: https://www.coolmilk.com/
