In recognition of World Book Day 2021, we've shared lots of 'Masked Reader' stories.

Children watched the videos and tried to guess who was behind the mask.  Some were really tricky so we gave a clue!

Here are the answers:
  • Mrs Allan - Giraffe
  • Miss Choudhury - Smurf
  • Mrs Edwards - Bee
  • Mr English - Alien
  • Mrs Jenkins - Dinosaur
  • Miss Johnson - Lego Head
  • Miss Lewis (Y6) - Hairstyle
  • Mrs Lewis (office) - Lay in Red
  • Mrs Lissner - Monkey
  • Mrs Lotay - Anubis
  • Miss Machicado - Firefighter
  • Miss Mulcahy - Spongebob
  • Mrs Ohene - Iron Man
  • Miss Paul - Deer
  • Mrs Siddiqi - Tutankhamun
  • Mr Waldron - Lion

We had two winners who guessed all the staff members correctly.  Well done to everyone who took part!
Clue:  We think the voice is a big enough clue, even when wearing a lion HEAD.
Clue: She isn't really Cousin It from the Addams Family - but there is a family staff connection!
Clue: We hope there's no fires to put out in her upper school classroom!
Clue: FOUR what reason did this person wear a Lego Head?
Clue:  This Ancient Egyptian is so kind - she even shares her class!
Clue:  Who knew that TWO is a clue?
Clue: Perhaps this person should have been called the Iron LADY?
Clue:  This Egyptian works with our youngest children.
Clue:  This person once went to Pinner Park as a student and is now a school leader!
Clue: Spongebob loves her class so much she didn't let them go at the end of last year.
Clue:  This lady in red might answer the phone if you call school - but the sport-themed book is also a clue!
Clue:  Oh deer! This is a difficult one.  Perhaps Year 6 children could help?
Clue: You can find this person monkeying with her class in lower school.
Clue: This smurf is often found with our oldest children.
Clue: Could this be a depu-bee?
Clue: Although dressed as an alien, this person's real name suggests they're from this nation!

Back to School - Positive and Calm

5/3/2021

We know that there will be a range of emotions and feelings about the return to school. As adults, we will want to ensure that our children return positively and calmly - even if we are feeling anxious.

The NHS has some top tips and advice on how to make the transition back to school as smooth as possible, as well as information about further help and support. This is a great read for parents.

Additionally, each year group has a special community page on DB Primary dedicated to supporting emotional well-being. Do take a look - there are some excellent resources for parents and children, including this resource from Relax Kids.

Our staff will be on hand to support and children or families as we transition back into school.
