On Monday, Year 4 participated in a Discovery Workshop led by the mobile company Three. They impressed the adults with their history knowledge about the impact of Romans on Britain today, including the Roman baths and Roman roads. They applied their knowledge to create an iMovie, adding images for green screen, memorizing their lines as well as editing the iMovie using iPads! Well done Year 4! This week, our Year 5 children have transported us through history with some fabulous performances. We have visited the Globe Theatre in London to meet the famous bard, William Shakespeare. and experienced what life was like for the 16th-century playwright and his company of actors. We learned about the characters he created for his plays, the success he had performing for Queen Elizabeth I and King James I and discovered the origins of some of the best-loved quotes in the English language. We also went further back in history to the series of events leading to the battle of 1066, as each of the contenders for the throne was introduced and troops were mobilised across the country for fierce battles We saw William crowned King of England, and learned about the significance of the Bayeux Tapestry. The acting and singing were superb. Well done to Year 5. Chestnut and Oak Photos: Birch and Willow Photos: If you or your child appears in any photo and you would prefer this not to be the case. Poetry by Heart - School wide celebration of poetry
We're celebrating World Poetry Day by launching this year's school-wide Poetry event! Each child is asked to choose a poem, learn it by heart, and perform it out loud! Children will perform their poem in class after the Easter holiday. Two children from each class will be selected to go through to a year group 'semi-final'. From that group, two children will be selected to go through to perform their poems in assembly (and video recorded for our website). To view the collection of poems click here. There are a good range of poems - something for all ages and abilities. We're asking the children to be aspirational and ambitious in their choice! Our Year 6 students at Pinner Park Primary School have been busy in Design Technology creating delicious and nutritious breakfast bars! If you or your child appears in any photo and you would prefer this not to be the case. Simply email [email protected], let us know which photo it is, and we will remove it.
