We’ve joined Street Tag – a family friendly app to help us all get out and about. The app turns the parks and streets of Harrow into a virtual playground, with tag points up for grabs as children, families and staff explore their local area. Street Tag rewards schools, families and individuals for keeping active - making physical activity fun by converting walking, running, and cycling into Street Tag points (tags). Children, families and staff will be competing as part of the Pinner Park Team! We'll be competing against all the other schools in Harrow and we are keen to do well! Points are earned by actively walking, running or cycling to and from places, in addition to collecting virtual tags that have been scattered throughout the community. Tags can be found on school routes, in local parks, at local events. The next competition season starts on Monday so download the app and get started as soon as possible! Street Tag is a great way to motivate families, children and staff to explore the local area and to get active together. The app runs in the background, so there is no need to worry about bringing out your phone. It will automatically collect tags in a 40-metre radius allowing you to concentrate on your walk, your family, and the wonderful surroundings. Please join today! Download Street Tag today from Google Play or the Apple App Store and start collecting points whenever you come within 40 metres of tags. The further you travel to find them, the more points generated. For more information on how to access Street Tag go to Streettag.co.uk.
Let's get lots of team members signed up and make a challenge on the Street Tag Leaderboard! Let's Go Pinner Park! ![]()
Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a super sports day. Everyone participated so well and gave their best effort, showing some great character. The team points will be calculated at the end of our sports events and the winning team will be announced! During our lunchtimes, our staff team are always on the look out for children who are 'Playground Stars'. These are the children who are playing well, being a great friend, being polite and respectful, helping to tidy away, supporting others and being kind. The lunchtime team can award 'stars' which are then transferred to a chart back in class. Each star gives one entry into our special raffle. Earlier in the year, children won some amazing prizes - toys, games, and even a scooter. This time round, none of the prizes can be bought in a shop. The are 'Prizes beyond Price'. These included an extra playtime, an extra non-uniform day, getting to sit on the benches in assembly, and an ice-lolly with the headteacher! Well done to all our winners. ![]() The UK's month-long nature challenge We're taking part in 30 Days Wild, The Wildlife Trusts' annual nature challenge where they ask the nation to do one 'wild' thing a day every day throughout June. Your daily wild activities can be anything you like - you might be having breakfast with the birds on Monday, feeling the grass between your toes on Tuesday, and watching wildlife webcams on Wednesday. There’s no set structure, so you can take part in a way that suits you. Alongside benefiting your local wildlife, taking part in 30 Days Wild is scientifically proven to make you feel happier, healthier, and more connected to nature! We're talking to the children about 30 Days Wild in assembly and in class, and we want you to join in at home too. Thanks to everyone who has joined in so far and sent us some photos! If your child features in any of these pictures and you would prefer them not to, please contact us through the school office and we will remove it immediately and without question.

We’re being supported by Ground Control to invite nature into the school grounds. This is all part of our effort to ensure children learn about biodiversity and sustainability. You may remember that last year all of our children took part in The Big Dig. This has kick-started a year round approach to learning which has included a collaboration with the Bumblebee Trust, participation in Climate Week, undertaking RSPB's birdwatch, and our participation in 30 Days Wild (see article in this newsletter). The story of our recent collaboration with Ground Control and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust is told in this video. Click to watch the video. Through our partnership with Ground Control and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, we managed to secure a small number of tickets to the Chelsea Flower Show. On Monday, four very lucky students were accompanied by Mr English and Mrs Jenkins to attend the show. Monday was press day for the show and the show was not open to the general public. There were plenty of famous celebrities in attendance! The four children were selected from those children in Years 4 and 5 who entered a competition to demonstrate how they were helping our local biodiversity to thrive. We want to thank everyone who entered the competition - the standard of entries showed the commitment of children and families to protect wildlife and the planet. Have a look through the photos and see if you can spot the celebrities (including a royal princess). We celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III with a special day in school. Some of us dressed as kings and queens, and some of us dressed in red, white and blue. There were a range of coronation themed activities and we all learned a little more about the role of the monarch, the traditions of the coronation service, and much more. We learned a song especially written for the coronation, 'Our King' 👑 |
